Magpie goose 'Anseranas semipalmata' can live to be over 32 years in the wild. They are polygynous and coexist in the social system characterized by alloparental care - offspring receive care not only from their parents, but from additional group members, or helpers. They are listed as "endangered" in Victoria and South Australia, "secure" in the the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia and "vulnerable" in New South Wales. Humans hunt them for sport and for food.
